New Placement Vaccination requirement for Students
From 7 July, all students heading on Placement for Aged Care and Community services will need to be vaccinated.
Please refer to the following links from Queensland Health for information regarding your vocational clinical placements and changed COVID-19 vaccination requirements for students attending Queensland Health facilities. These changes come into effect at 8:00pm Wednesday 7 July 2021. Notification of this change may also be advised through other contacts within your facility.
Restriction Details
From 8:00pm Wednesday 7 July 2021, any students who are on a clinical placement in connection with an enrolled course of study must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they may be permitted to enter a restricted vulnerable facility (hospital, residential aged care, disability accommodation services, or correctional centre).
Being fully vaccinated means having both doses of either Pfizer or AstraZeneca. A student should not be taken to be vaccinated if they have only had one dose and aware awaiting the second dose. Also, students who cannot be vaccinated due to a contraindication will not be permitted to enter the vulnerable facility while it is restricted.
Any student on a clinical placement who is not fully vaccinated as at 8:00pm on 7 July 2021 will not be permitted to enter a restricted vulnerable facility for the purposes of the placement.

Requirement only while Restrictions are in Place
The requirement to be fully vaccinated only applies while a facility is restricted. Current restrictions are expected to be in place until 6:00pm on 16 July 2021, pending the COVID-19 situation across the State. However, please be aware that, should it be necessary to impose restrictions in future, this may happen at short notice and vaccination requirements for students on clinical placement would be reinstated.
We will check this regularly throughout ordinary operations (every one or two weeks), and more frequently in the case of an extraordinary event. Please note: the best and most accurate source of information regarding clinical placements in Queensland Health facilities is the clinical placements website at https://www.health.qld.gov.au/employment/clinical-placement. Changes to the website are routinely provided on the “What’s new” page.
Thank you for your understanding and we will support you to go through this period. If you have any questions, feel free to talk to your marketing representative, trainer or student services team.
